Experimental Movement Workshop + Talk Back with Justin Conte at Saint Louis Dance Theatre
Moving with Justin Conte is a hypnotic and fulfilling experience. His style of movement is a fusion of dynamic and expressive experimental dance with the soul of underground styles. He is dedicated to holding a safe space for a mover to explore their artists’ self while educating on the cultural and historical aspects of the styles explored. The work is focused on expanding artistry, body awareness and connection to rhythm. His work truly pushes the boundary between the commercial dance, concert dance and social dance worlds. Justin has had the pleasure of working with renowned artists such as Doja Cat, FKA Twigs, Tinashe, AP Dhillon, Melanie Martinez, The Weeknd, Ivy Lab, Lion Babe, and Rising Appalachia, among others. He has also shared creative space with global brands including Rimmel London, On, EDITION Hotels, Dermalogica, Stuart Weitzman, Warby Parker, Vevo, Alexander McQueen, iSENZiA, Coachella, TSX, Afropunk, NOWNESS, and Complex.

Victoria Lynn Awkward is a multi-hyphenate creator, administrator, educator and the Director of VLA DANCE. She pulls from Modern and Contemporary dance with diasporic influences.

Improv Workshop with Big Plate Dance
Join us Saturday, 9/14, for a workshop class and open play session! This is open to everyone curious about movement improvisation, no dance experience required.
Learn (or resharpen) tools for individual and group movement improv through games and guided explorations. This workshop is geared for all levels, so whether you already love improv or have never tried it before, we hope you join us! After the workshop, stick around for the jam and play with your new skills. Light refreshments will be provided.

Tap Pop-Up Class with Megan Mayer
Join us for the final STLRC tap class of the summer. moSTLy TAP guest performer, Megan Mayer will be in town for 1 class only. Megan is a St. Louis native. Growing up, she performed with the MUNY, Dance STL, and Fox Performing Arts Charitable Foundation, where she competed as a finalist in the St. Louis Teen Talent Competition and received the Fromm Family Dance Award. Megan is a proud alumna of the Tap Program at the School at Jacob's Pillow (2021) and Lindenwood University with a BFA in Dance with an emphasis in Contemporary (2022).
Art in Motion: A Dance and Drawing Experience
Embark on a inspiring artistic journey at St. Louis Artists’ Guild where the worlds of dance and visual art converge. "Art in Motion" invites you to witness the dynamic interplay between movement and creativity, featuring an evening of live dance performance and posed drawing sessions. During the event, two talented dancers will animate the gallery space with their graceful movements, posing among the artwork for artists to capture through sketches and drawings. This interactive session allows artists of all levels to interpret and translate the dancers' fluidity and expression onto paper or canvas. Following the drawing sessions, immerse yourself in a captivating performance where the dancers bring their own choreography to life and ending with a meet and greet. Tap for Teachers Only Workshop at St. Louis Academy of Dance: Monday, August 5 AND Monday August 12, 6:00-8:00pm. $190 per student (includes workshop and resource materials). Perfect for those that teach beginning to advanced levels of tap for ages 6-adult. We'll dance, work through a variety of exercises for various levels of tap dance & discuss how to use them to share principles of control, floor connection, use of the arms/upper body, weight shift & balance, improvisation and more! Each participant will receive resources to inspire classwork.

With dances held all over the world, Ecstatic Dance is a free-form movement gathering, with music by a live DJ. It’s open to all, and no dance experience is required! Webster Winter Dance Workshop
The Winter Dance Workshop offers intermediate/advanced dance students ages 13 and up the chance to take a four different classes from Webster Dance faculty: ballet, modern, aerial and jazz. Lunch is provided as part of the workshop, and there will be a lunchtime discussion on dance in college and beyond.
