“In Two” by Brendan Fernandes at The Pulitzer Arts Foundation
In a dance and sculptural performance, Brendan Fernandes: In Two presents a series of duets performed throughout the galleries. Responding directly to Scott Burton: Shape Shift, the dancers engage with Burton’s “furniture sculptures”—artworks that were originally made for public use. Like Burton (1939–1989), Fernandes draws on gestures and signaling within gay cruising culture as part of an ongoing exploration of queer camouflage, visibility, and embodiment. In addition to engaging with Burton’s artwork, dancers also activate two newly-commissioned sets of curtains installed in the upper and lower levels of the Pulitzer’s main gallery and a set of pillows that softly contrast with the hard materials of Burton’s work.

Teen Seen: STL
Teen Seen: STL will take place on Saturday, January 25, 2025, at 7:30 p.m. at St. Louis Academy of Dance.
Teen Seen is an opportunity for young dancers and choreographers, ages 13-17, to share their work with the St. Louis community. This initiative aims to foster artistic vulnerability and growth, allowing participants to share their work without rules, budgets, time limits, or genre restrictions.
To maintain the spirit of “sign up, show up, share work,” RDC will not adjudicate or select works. Young choreographers should register with the support of a mentor, teacher, or studio director. We will accept the first two sign-ups from each studio until we reach a total of 12 spots. Works should be primarily student-choreographed to be eligible.
Alexander Technique with Dawn Karlovsky at The Pulitzer
Join Dawn Karlovsky, founder and artistic director of Karlovsky & Company Dance and a nationally certified Alexander Technique (AmSAT) teacher, for an immersive workshop on this gentle method for improving posture and mobility. This program is recommended for ages 13 and up, and all abilities are welcome. Participants should dress comfortably and are encouraged to bring a yoga blanket or exercise mat. Cushions and chairs will be provided upon request. Space is limited, and registration is required.
Dancers Making Moves Deadline
Dance artists are multifaceted, and every dance journey is unique. With an emphasis on individuality, Dancers Making Moves will showcase the diverse voices contributing to the artistic fabric of the professional dance community in St. Louis. The project will feature pay-what-you-can mini photography sessions open to all professional dance artists in St. Louis, as well as a focused content generation opportunity for up to 20 select dancers to share their unique stories. Dancers may apply or be nominated, and a specialized committee will decide the final cohort of dance artists. The project will culminate in a multimedia performance and gallery experience featuring content captured by Carly Vanderheyden as well as live performances and a Q&A session with the artists.

"Entry Points" by RESILIENCE Dance Company
RESILIENCE Dance Company's signature Fall repertory concert, featuring four world premieres by: Annie Rigney, Kia Smith, Victoria Lynn Awkward, Shannon Gillen and Jason Cianciulli, and the return of deluge by Rosanna Tavarez.
“In Two” by Brendan Fernandes at The Pulitzer Arts Foundation
In a new dance and sculptural performance, Brendan Fernandes: In Two presents a series of duets performed throughout the galleries.
