Triumphant unites COCA’s Pre-Professional dance companies as they take their season-ending bows and COCA’s graduating seniors grace the stage one last time. Triumphant highlights the versatility of our young artists as they present 12 dance works across three unique programs. Throughout the year, the dancers experience creative development residencies with guest artists including Justin Conte, Tom Gold, My’Kal Stromile, and Omari Wiles. Bringing new work to premiere at COCA, each guest artist mounts their piece specifically for COCA dancers and collaborates with COCA’s production team to fully realize the work. The Friday, May 10 performance features our graduating dancers telling their COCA stories in their senior statements, their college or post-secondary training plans, and sharing a solo dance piece with the audience.

COCA’s Dance Showcase features ballet, hip-hop, modern, jazz, contemporary, and musical theatre performances by COCA students. Over the course of the past several weeks, students have learned and rehearsed pieces for these culminating performances. Dancers from COCA’s Pre-Professional Division second companies also will perform a preview of their spring production of Triumphant, which will take place the following weekend.

COCA Pre-Professional Division students in Ballet Eclectica will attend Regional Dance America’s (RDA) National Festival in Daytona Beach, Florida, this April. The festival is attended by the top pre-professional ballet companies nationwide. To reach their ambitious fundraising goal, Ballet Eclectica is hosting the Ballet Ball Luncheon on February 3 from 3:00–5:00PM. Tickets are on sale for $35 per person, and ticket price includes drinks and lunch. The Ballet Ball Luncheon will feature performances by Ballet Eclectica, showcasing new works for the festival and Triumphant, and a silent auction. The silent auction begins at 2:00PM in the Centene Commons. The dress code is casual chic. All proceeds will support Ballet Eclectica’s attendance at the festival.
